Hopkinson released as Chalmers joins Oxford on loan
Aldershot have released Bobby Hopkinson and have allowed fellow midfielder Lewis Chalmers to join Oxford United on loan.
Former Plymouth Argyle youngster Hopkinson joined the Shots on non-contract forms last August, but made just two substitute appearances for the club.
The youngster has now been let go by Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon and is expected to return to the West Country.
Dillon told the club's
official website: "Bobby is a smashing lad, who has been a good worker in training. He had a recent spell at Farnborough, which didn't work out for him.
"He is due to move back to Devon and I am sure that he will find regular first-team football.
"I would like to thank Bobby for his commitment and wish him every success for the future."
Meanwhile, Dillon is keen to bring in a loan signing after letting Chalmers, who had made 28 appearances this term, join Oxford for the rest of the season.
He added: "With the departure of Lewis Chalmers to Oxford United on loan we will be looking for another midfielder in addition to a centre-half."
