Midfielder not keen to return to Crawley when loan deal expires
On-loan St Johnstone midfielder Willie Gibson hopes to stay in Scotland after admitting he does not want to return to Crawley Town.
Gibson joined Saints on loan in August and made his first appearance in almost three months in the 3-0 defeat by Motherwell on Saturday.
His loan at McDiarmid Park expires in January and the 27-year-old is desperate to stay north of the border to be closer to his two children.
"I don't want to go back to Crawley," he told the
Daily Record. "I've got two young kids up in Dumfries.
Frustrating
"I was driving up the road after games to get to them, and after seeing them on the Sunday I'd drive back down.
"My wife was down for a month but she was teaching and now we're expecting our first child so staying in Scotland is a priority.
"It's down to the manager. All I can do is keep plugging away in training. I have an agreement with Crawley that as long as I find a club that matches my wage I can stay up the road.
"They didn't want to pay a percentage of my wage. If I can find a club to pay 100 per cent I can stay. If not I'll be back to Crawley.
"I don't know what's happening but I would guess I won't be staying here. I'm here until January so time is running out and I've 18 months left at Crawley.
"Even if my future isn't here I would like to catch the eye of another manager.
"But I'm not playing and if my name crops up in conversation other managers will be wondering why I'm out of the team. It's frustrating."
