Emir Spahic has vowed not to attend a hearing if disciplinary action is taken against him.
The Montpellier defender has been criticised in some quarters for a clash with Brest forward Nolan Roux on Saturday.
In order to protect his keeper, Spahic is alleged to have aimed a deliberate elbow at his opponent.
He faced no action from the match officials at the time, but the incident has since been reviewed.
The Bosnia international insists there was no malice on his part in the coming together and feels it would be wrong of the authorities to punish him.
"I didn't mean to hurt anybody," Spahic told
L'Equipe.
"I just wanted to protect my keeper. I felt someone running around my back, without knowing exactly where they were."
Committee
The 30-year-old believes any charges brought against him would mean the authorities have singled Montpellier out for unfair treatment.
"The treatment is not the same for every club," he said.
"If I am called in front of a disciplinary committee, I will not go.
"If they feel that is necessary, every defender should be called up every week."
