Carlisle's play-off dreams suffered a huge blow after suffering a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage.

Kurtis Guthrie's double, his second in as many games, and Arthur Iontton's first goal for the club left Steven Pressley's Cumbrians four points off the play-off pace.

Boro have put themselves back in the hunt and are a point behind Carlisle.

Scott Cuthbert missed a glorious early chance to hand Stevenage the lead just two minutes in.

Iontton did well to latch onto Ilias Chair's ball and put the hosts in front after 14 minutes.

Guthrie fired into the side netting as Dino Maamria's side dominated proceedings.

Chair was the provider once again as Guthrie headed home his 10th goal of the season seven minutes after the restart.

Guthrie was then fouled in the box by Callum O'Hare after an hour. The striker stepped up and placed the spot-kick into the bottom left corner, despite Adam Collin getting a hand on it.

Late on, Jason Kennedy headed wide for the shell-shocked visitors.
