Sky Sports understands Preston are closing in on a deal for Stevenage midfielder John Mousinho.
Mousinho is available on a free transfer and is expected to leave Stevenage after turning down the offer of a new deal.
Thr 26-year-old joined Stevenage from Wycombe in the summer of 2010 and scored the winning goal in their successful promotion from League Two last season.
Preston boss Graham Westley has already raided his old club to sign Scott Laird this summer and he is keen to be reunited with Mousinho.
North End have been busy in the transfer market, having already signing eight players this summer and Westley is hoping to make Mousinho his latest capture.
