Premier League dominates players left for Euro 2016 final

The Premier League has the most players left at Euro 2016 ahead of the final between Portugal and France on Sunday.

The Premier League has 13 of the 46 players left between the two squads, higher than France's Ligue 1 (nine) and Portugal's Primeira Liga (seven).

Sporting Lisbon top the list of clubs left at the competition with four - Rui Patricio, Joao Mario, William Carvalho, Adrien Silva - ahead of Lyon, who have three players in Danilo, Christophe Jallet and Samuel Umtiti, though Umtiti is expected to be officially unveiled as a Barcelona player in the next week.

Southampton, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United all have two players remaining each, alongside Real Madrid, Monaco, Bayern Munich, Juventus and PSG.

  • 1 player - Fenerbahce, Benfica, Cagliari, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Porto, Braga, Wolfsburg, Lille, Besiktas, Rennes, Tottenham, Sevilla, Leicester, West Ham, Newcastle, Tigres, Atletico Madrid, Dinamo Zagreb

Premier League sides Tottenham, Leicester and West Ham have a player each remaining, while Sky Bet Championship side Newcastle also have one.

La Liga have five players remaining, the Bundesliga has four and Serie A has three. The Turkish Super Lig (two), Liga MX-Mexico (one) and Croatian First Football League (one) make up the 46 players remaining in France.

English-based players have also had a big say in the goals scored in the 50 tournament games so far, with 35 of the total 107 scored by players in either the Premier League or the Sky Bet Championship.

Before the tournament, Liverpool had the joint-most players heading to France, more than Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona. 

Jurgen Klopp's side had 12 players at the tournament, the same amount as Serie A champions Juventus, while Tottenham (11), Manchester United (10) and Arsenal (nine) were also heavily represented.

The Premier League and English Football League were well represented in France, with 139 of the 552 players (25 per cent) involved in the competition playing their club football in England. 

The Premier League boasted the most with 103 players, but the Sky Bet Championship had 31 participants, more than France's Ligue 1 (22).
