Crawley have signed free agent goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan on a three-month deal, subject to Football League ratification.

The 36-year-old former Bournemouth stopper will be with the Red Devils until January 16 and could make his debut in Saturday's home league game against Luton.

Flahavan joins the Sky Bet League 2 side after Newcastle recalled Freddie Woodman following the news that Tim Krul had been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

"We wanted a keeper with lots of experience and Darryl certainly fits the bill," Crawley boss Mark Yates told the club's official website.

Flahavan said: "I'm looking forward to competing with Callum (Preston) for the goalkeeper's jersey and helping us climb the table. From what I've seen this week, the quality is certainly there for us to do that and I am ready to go if called upon on Saturday."
