RIVALDO AGREES TO PLAY ON LEFT

BARCELONA`S Brazilian ace Rivaldo last night agreed to play on the left for Barcelona and apologised to Dutch boss Louis Van Gaal for refusing to do so previously.

The 28-year-old European Player of the Year speaking in a press conference prior to Barca`s 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad committed himself to chasing a European Champions Cup for the Catalan giants though he insisted his best position is in the centre.

"I have spoken with the manager and the club and I have agreed to play on the left wing though I continue to think that my best position is in the centre, Rivaldo said"

"My family has convinced to me to put the disagreement behind us and I do not want the problem to stay with us for a long time.

"I want to stay and win the European Champions Cup for Barca. Van Gaal and I agreed to differ and I have apologised for not agreeing to play on the left. For the good of Barcelona I will play in this position though at 28 years old I know myself where I am most effective.

The mecurial playmaker, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United and a whole host of Serie A clubs, is thought to be leaving the Nou Camp at the end of the season after a series of arguments with the disciplinarian Van Gaal but the Brazilian insisted he isn`t in a rush to leave Spain.

"I do not want to leave Barcelona - my family and I are happy in the city."

"Stories that I am trying to hasten my departure from the Nou Camp are false. I have received no offers and the club have not notified me of any offers."
