BABB DUE SOUTH

LIVERPOOL`S out-of-favour defender Phil Babb has been linked with a free-transfer move to Southampton when his present deal with the Merseyside club expires at the end of the season.

Babb, currently on loan with First Division side Tranmere, appears to be completely out of Reds` manager Gerard Houllier`s plans.

Babb was signed in 1994 from Coventry by former manager Roy Evans and was initially part of an impressive defensive partnership with John Scales and Neil Ruddock.
