PEACOCK TO GO UNDER KNIFE

MANCHESTER CIT Y striker Lee Peacock is set for an exploratory operation on the knee injury that has dogged him for much of the season.

The 23-year-old forward signed from Mansfield in October for £500,000 after netting 8 in 14 games for The Stags, but his performances have been disperate making just four full appearances.

Initial tests suggest that no major damage has been done to the knee, but the striker is still feeling discomfort.

"Lee has been able to train but not without suffering some pain afterwards so we decided a specialist needed to have a look at what is going on," Joe Royle said.

The news will come as a blow to the City boss as his side strive to arrest their present indifferent form and notch the First Division`s second promotion spot.
