CARTERON LINKED TO BRITISH MOVE

More from Football

LYON utility man Patrice Carteron is to decide on his future by the end of the week and, should he not renew his contract, he could be interested in a move to Leeds or a club in Scotland.

The 26-year-old right sided player has the option to extend his stay at the Stade Gerland but, should he decide to leave, he could be tempted by a move to Elland Road.

Carteron has seen Olympique sign Jean-Marc Chanelet from Nantes, as well as aggressively pursuing Bruges defender Eric Deflandre, thus decreasing his chances of regular first team football next season.

It has been hinted in the French press that David O‚ÇÖLeary (pictured), as well as an un-named Scottish League club, have been monitoring Carteron‚ÇÖs situation. But with Leeds already well stocked in the right-back spot with both Gary Kelly and Danny Mills, it is unlikely that The Whites will pay an inflated fee.

This is not the first time that the Frenchman has been linked with the West Yorkshire outfit, with O'Leary viewing the defender on a number of occasions before deciding to sign Mills from Charlton last summer.

Despite this renewed interest, Carteron is much more likely to consider a move to Scotland, where his first team opportunities would be much stronger.

A potential stumbling block to any possible transfer is that Lyon are currently without a manager, with chairman Jean-Michel Aulas in charge of team affairs and he may want to appoint a new coach before sanctioning any possible exits.
