CONNOLLY COMPLETES QPR SWITCH

FIRST DIVISION Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of Wrexham striker Karl Connolly on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old had been expected to leave the Racecourse Ground this summer after refusing a new contract with the club, who he spent nine years with and made over 300 appearances.

Rangers have been searching for a replacement for striker Kevin Gallen, who is leaving Loftus Road on a Bosman this summer, while striker Rob Steiner has spent much of the season out with knee trouble.

Connolly could now see himself immediately paired with Chris Kiwomya as Steiner continues his comeback from the injury as Gerry Francis prepares for next season.

The player has also been tracked by Rangers' First Division rivals Tranmere Rovers and Division Two play-off finalists Wigan Athletic.
