LUKE OF LOVE FOR CHESTERFIELD

LUKE BECKETT has left Chester for Chesterfield, after coming to the end of his contract at the Deva Stadium.

The impressive forward bagged 19 goals last season for City, despite a dreadful season for a side that was relegated to the Nationwide Conference, and it was known that he was seeking a fresh challenge.

Other clubs, such as York City, Crewe and Mansfield, showed an interest in the 23-year-old, and he was offered a new deal to stay with Chester, but Beckett has opted for a move to Saltergate.

New owner Darren Brown held talks with the left-footed player and persuaded him to join his revolution at Chesterfield, although a tribunal will be needed to fix the fee as he is too young to qualify for a Bosman free transfer.
