BRIGHTON SNAP UP JONES

BRIGHTON have confirmed that they have signed Nathan Jones on a free transfer from Southend United.

The 27-year-old was unable to secure first team football at Roots Hall last season and has agreed a move to Third Division rivals Brighton in a bid to forward his career.

The defender's current contract with The Shrimpers expires on 30th June and this means his is able to move to Brighton on a 'Bosman' free transfer.

Albion fought off competition from a number of other clubs to sign Jones, who has signed a two-year contract with the club.

Brighton manager Micky Adams has spoken of his delighted at completing the transfer.

"Nathan was Southend's Player of the Year last season, scored against us at Roots Hall, and was also unlucky to be sent off against us at Withdean, said Adams. "He is a fine attacking full-back, skillful and quick, and completes another piece of the jigsaw in our strengthening of the squad."
