MYSTERY FRENCH TRIALIST AT NOTTS COUNTY

NOTTS COUNTY are to unveil a mystery French trialist in a pre-season friendly against non-league Boston United.

The 22-year-old has been in Nottingham since the weekend and met The Magpies squad before embarking on their up-coming friendly with the Nationwide Conference side.

Though County boss Jocky Scott has refused to identify the mystery Frenchman, he did say the the striker comes from one of the top Le Championnat clubs.

Scott said: "He is a proven goalscorer who comes to us with a very good pedigree. The lad has not played many games for his side in France but certainly looks one for the future.

"Therefore, this could be a great opportunity for him, and he could prove to be a major asset for us.

"It all depends on how he fits in with the rest of the squad and the rigours of the English game, but he looks like the sort of player we will need."

The Magpies are waiting on getting international clearance for the young striker.

Meanwhile, Scott has dismissed any rumours that he is interested in signing out-of-favour Northampton Town striker Carlo Corazzin.

The Canadian international, currently on World Cup qualifying duty in North America, was let go by The Cobblers at the end of last season and has been linked with a number of clubs.

They include Gillingham and Oldham Athletic, as well as Notts County, but Scott insists he has not made any enquiries for the player.
