DRAPER SEALS SAINTS SWITCH
The former Leicester midfielder returned from a loan spell in Spain with Rayo Vallecano knowing that his long-term future would not be at Villa Park, after failing to become a regular under John Gregory.
Glenn Hoddle moved for the 29-year-old to bolster his squad ahead of next season, and the formalities of the deal, as expected, were concluded this week.
After signing a four-year contract at The Dell, he will be looking to resurrect a career that had promised England recognition during his spell with first club Notts County.
"Now I am just looking forward to getting back playing and training hard for Southampton," said Hoddle`s latest arrival.
If The Saints were still sponsored by Draper Tools, the player would have had the pleasure of having his name on the front and back of his shirt, but Friends Provident now support the club.
