U`S SIGN STOCKWELL
The 35-year-old had been with the Portman Road outfit for 18 years, playing 610 games, but manager George Burley felt that the midfielder would not be able to cope with life in the Prmeiership and released him on a free.
At the time, Burley felt it was a hard choice to make, saying: "It was a very difficult decision as Micky has been a great servant to the club."
It was revealed earlier in July that Stockwell had been training with Colchester, with U’s manager Steve Whitton stating: "I have always indicated I would be interested in signing Mick if he became available. But he is merely training with us, we have not taken the matter any further than that just yet."
However, Whitton has now followed up his interest and Stockwell will bring some vital experience to the Layer Road squad.
