LATICS SIGN CANADIAN STRIKER

OLDHAM ATHLETIC have signed Canadian international striker Carlo Corazzin, after he was released by newly-promoted Division Two side, Northampton Town.

The Latics, who have made the final of the pre-season Isle of Man International Festival tournament against nearby rivals Bury, have added the hitman who scored 15 goals last season with The Cobblers.

However, Oldham may have a problem with Corazzin's availability due to his commitments with the Canadian squad.

Northampton manager, Kevin Wilson, was reportedly happy to let the 28-year-old go because of he could miss as many as 16 matches this season, due to World Cup qualifying in the Concacaf region.

Corazzin has been on World Cup duty the last two weeks as Canada are in a semi-final group with Mexico, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.

The striker's career in England's lower divisions has been a useful one since coming to Cambridge United from Canadian club Vancouver 86ers for £20,000 in 1993.

He then moved to Plymouth Argyle in 1996 for £150,000, before leaving Home Park on a free transfer to The Cobblers.
