NILIS MAKING GOOD PROGRESS

LONG-TERM injury victim Luc Nilis is continuing to make steady progress from the horrific leg break he sustained against Ipswich Town last month.

The Aston Villa striker suffered a double compound fracture of his right leg, after an accidental collision with Ipswich Town goalkeeper Richard Wright.

The Belgian international has undergone three operations, having an aluminium nail inserted into the bone, but he has now had the plaster cast removed.

Villa physio Jim Walker is pleased with the progress so far achieved by Nilis.

"He's not walking yet and won't be doing that for a while," said Walker. "The leg should have healed by the time pre-season training comes around next year and hopefully, he'll be ready to join in with us."
