LAZIO SIGN BAGGIO

DINO BAGGIO has completed a move from Parma to Lazio, with Nestor Sensini moving in the opposite direction.

Only last week, Baggio`s representative confirmed that the international midfielder was thinking over offers from Middlesbrough, Milan and Lazio, but it now appears that he has decided to join the Roman club.

Baggio`s agent Andrea D'Amico, confirmed the move, saying: "We've been working for weeks towards this transfer and Dino Baggio is now a Lazio player."

D`Amico added that a five-year deal had been agreed and this showed the faith that Lazio have in the player.

"The fact that the contract is a five-year one shows the Lazio leaders believe in Dino," D`Amico stated.

He also revealed Baggio`s intentions for the move, adding: "Dino has gone to Lazio with one intention - to regain his national team place and go to the World Cup in 2002."

Lazio have lacked a driving force in midfield this season, with both Diego Simeone and Juan Veron appearing out of sorts and the capture of Baggio will be a major boost to coach Sven Goran Eriksson.

The deal will be a blow to Boro boss Bryan Robson, who was trying to lure the player to Teesside.

Baggio, 29, has had an illustrious career, starting with Torino before spells at Internazionale and Juventus, where he won the Uefa Cup in 1993, but it was at Parma where he made his name.  He joined in 1994, and won two more Uefa Cups in 1994 and 1999.

For Sensini, this is a turnaround, as the 34-year-old spent six seasons with Parma between 1993 and 1999.
