HEGGEM LOOKS FOR GERMAN CURE
The injury forced him out during Norway's involvement in Euro 2000 and he also limped out of Liverpool's 4-0 thrashing of Derby County after five minutes with a recurrence of the problem.
The 25-year-old had flown to Norway to see friends before starting treatment at Bundesliga side 1860 Munich where every effort is being made to find a solution to this problem.
"Gerard Houllier has given me permission to spend a weekend in Norway before travelling down here," said Heggem. "It helped, because it has been tough and depressing lately.
"The team here and the medical staff at Liverpool are working together on this to find a solution as soon as possible."
He told his website that some headway has been made into his injury but he will not know exactly what is wrong for a few days.
"At the moment I can't really say how long I will be out, I will know more in a few days. We have found that there is more than one cause for the injury, this is probably the source of my recurring problem.
"The physio has got very far on some aspects of the problem, but there are still a couple of things to work on. We have a pretty good idea on what has led to these problems, but I don't want to reveal any details yet," he added.
