SPENCER LOOKING TO END GOAL DROUGHT

JOHN SPENCER has vowed to end his own personal goal drought as a treat for the Motherwell fans who are being offered cut-price entry into Saturday's home game with Dundee United.

The striker is frustrated that he has not netted any of the nine goals that 'Well have struck in the last three games and could not find a better time to end the run than the Fir Park encounter with the SPL's bottom club.

Spencer - with just one goal to his name - feels he has been short-changed by his goal haul this term, even though he is just back from injury.

"I have had to suffer sciatica but that has cleared up now," the former Chelsea man revealed. "And I am hoping I will start hitting the back of the net again.

"This is the longest spell I have ever had in my career without a goal. As long as I am contributing and setting up goals for other I am happy and it should keep me in the side for a while.

"But strikers are judged on goals and I know I need to start scoring soon. Over the last few years Motherwell have had two or three players who have run up double figures. Don Goodman, Lee McCulloch and myself all did last season and Stuart Elliott is weighing in this term."

Motherwell boss Billy Davies told Spencer not to worry, saying: "I'm sure once John nets the first one since his lay-off, then he'll go on a run and start banging them in again."

On Saturday at Fir Park, the Davie Cooper East Stand and Main Stand will be reudced to half price, while the south stand - open to Well and United fans - will be £5 for adults and £1 for children.
