LOVELL GETS AUSSIE CALL-UP

STUART LOVELL capped Hibernian's great start to the season by earning a call-up from Australia for next week's friendly clash with Scotland at Hampden Park.

The Easter Road midfielder was named in a 20-man squad on Tuesday by Aussie coach Frank Farina and will get a chance to line up alongside fellow SPL player Tony Vidmar or Rangers and former Celtic star Mark Viduka, who were also included for the match on Wednesday, November 15

The Australian connection is yet another boost to Alex McLeish's squad for their impressive push towards the SPL title, with keeper Nick Colgan being introduced by the Republic of Ireland recently while Russell Latapy's displays have helped Trinidad and Tobago into the next stage of the World Cup.

Indeed, McLeish feels that David Zitelli has recaptured the form that once earned him two French B caps since moving to Hibs.

McLeish is still raving about Zitelli's spectacular winner at Dundee on Sunday night.

"I could tell he was unhappy in France and was keen to resurrect his career," said McLeish.

"I felt if we could get a guy who was hungry and enjoying his football again, then we would benefit. I feel we will see even more from David yet."

McLeish is willing to let full-back Derek Collins leave Easter Road to get first team action elsewhere.

Collins, 31, joined from Morton in 1998, but has failed to establish himself at the club

Midfielder Grant Brebner has also undergone a cartilage operation after the former Manchester United kid picked up an injury on loan at Stockport County.
