TOWN TAKE BRAZILIAN ON TRIAL

FIRST DIVISION strugglers Huddersfield Town have taken Brazilian striker Alexandrie Silveria Finazzi on trial at the McAlpine Stadium.

The 27-year-old, who plays for French Second Division outfit Sochaux, will train with the Terriers for a week and if he impresses boss Lou Macari he could win a move to the Yorkshire club.

Macari is keen to add to his attacking options at the club with last season's top-scorer Clyde Wijnhard still out injured since the end of August and both Kevin Gallen and Martin Smith having found the net four times each this term in the side's paltry 11 goal total for the campaign.

Huddersfield, who are currently marooned at the bottom of the league with just eight points, have struggled to score all season and Macari wants more firepower as he tries to lift the team away from the relegation zone.

The Brazilian forward, who used to ply his trade for Sao Paulo, Guarani, Gama and Botafago in Brazil, will not require a work permit if he impresses and joins Huddersfield as he holds a European passport.
