MAGPIES TAKE ALLSOPP ON LOAN

NOTTS COUNTY have taken Manchester City striker Danny Allsopp on a month's loan, with a view to signing the player on a permanent basis if he impresses at Meadow Lane.

This will be Allsopp's second loan spell away from Maine Road this season, having spent a spell with Bristol Rovers recently, where he made six appearances but failed to score.

Now County will be hoping that the 22-year-old Australian can find his scoring touch for them in the Second Division, and are believed to have agreed a fee of £230,000 with City if they wish to make the move permanent.

Meanwhile, highly-rated County goalkeeper Darren Ward is being linked with Premiership strugglers Bradford.

The 26-year-old custodian joined The Magpies for £150,000 from Mansfield in 1995 and has gone on to make over 250 appearances for the club, helping guide them back into the Second Division during the 1997/98 season.
