SAUDI PRINCE ANNOYED BY WOLVES
Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia has hit out at the now managerless club for failing to hand countryman Sami Al-Jaber a single start in the league since he joined them on loan in September.
Al-Jaber has made just five appearances for Wolves during his time at Molineux, starting one game in the Worthington Cup and being used as a substitute on four occasions in the First Division.
And now Prince Khalid, a key official at Al-Jaber's club, Al Hilal, is furious with the Midlands club, stressing that sporting relations between Britain and Saudi Arabia could become strained over the whole affair.
"If he'd gone to the Premier League I'd have said nothing," Prince Khalid was quoted as saying in the Express and Star.
"But Wolves are only a First Division side, they're not doing very well, they play midfielders in attack, and leave Sami on the bench.
"All we ask is that he be given a chance. And, if they don't want him, let him come home.
"Sami was the first player from our country to be allowed to move abroad, he is our best player, and I put my head on the line to persuade people here to let him go, as we felt it would be for Sami and his country's benefit.
"But now they have seen the way he has been treated, it could stop other players being given their chance.
"For the sake of our two countries having good relations in the future with regard to football, this situation needs sorting now.
"It has put a dent in our whole football system."
Al-Jaber's stay at Wolves has been hit by international call-ups and injury, but with the 28-year-old forward's loan deal due to expire on January 24th, Prince Khalid will be hoping for a more prosperous spell for the player in the new year.
