REPLAYS CAUGHT COLD BY WEATHER

NEAR farcical conditions saw Crewe Alexandra defeat Cardiff City 2-1 in the FA Cup third round replay, whilst Wimbledon equalised in near zero visibility before the match against Notts County was called off at 1-1, and Wycombe overcame First Division Grimsby 3-1.

Fog and icy pitches hit Tuesday's action hard - with Burnley's visit to Scunthorpe called off less than an hour before kick off, and Notts County annoyed to have scored, but seen their lead disappear in the thick fog that ultimately ended the match.

Ice also affected the game at Crewe, with conditions clearly not suitable for the game to continue, but Cardiff finding themselves ejected from the competition nonetheless.

A penalty from Shaun Smith and second half solo goal from Mark Rivers was enough for the victory - despite an Andy Legg goal from the Welsh side.

Second Division Wycombe picked up the performance of the night after cruising past Grimsby - a league above them - with a 3-1 victory at Blundell Park.

Paul McCarthy, Michael Simpson and Mark Rogers claimed the goals for The Chairboys, and Michael Jeffrey grabbed a consolation for The Mariners.
