BERKOVIC MOVES TO BLACKBURN

CELTIC'S Eyal Berkovic has finally completed his move to Blackburn Rovers after the Department of Employment granted approval to the loan deal.

The Israeli international travelled to Derby with his new team-mates yesterday and watched as Rovers embarrassed the Rams in a 5-2 mauling. With the switch now having gained official approval it is expected that Berkovic will feature in Saturday's league clash with Nottingham Forest.

After expressing a desire to leave Parkhead permanently, Berkovic justified his temporary move to Lancashire by saying: "I reached the conclusion that this loan deal may eventually result in a transfer.

"The fact that Blackburn are pushing for promotion had a great significance on my decision, but it was one of many factors.

"As soon as I arrived at the club I knew straight away that my decision was right."

Meanwhile, veteran striker Mark Hughes has been singing the praises of his new team-mate, saying: "I know what a good player he is and I'm not surprised that the manager has brought him to the club.

"He is top quality and hopefully he will help me and the other forwards increase our goal output.

"It can only be good for Blackburn that players like Eyal are willing to come here," the former-Manchester United hero added.
