PRIZE GUY JOINING GILLS

GILLINGHAM are finalising the signing of Guy Ipoua on Thursday, a week ahead of the transfer deadline, with the exact details of the deal agreed with Scunthorpe United.

Andy Hessenthaler has moved quickly to replace Carl Asaba, following the forward`s switch to Sheffield United, and the powerful Ipoua will be looking to make a major impact at Priestfield.

Once he has passed a routine medical, the 25-year-old will put pen-to-paper on a contract that will last until the end of the 2002/2003 campaign.

Scunthorpe will receive £25,000, and a further £10,000 when he plays ten games next season. There will also be a ten percent sell-on clause on any future transfer.

Hessenthaler denied any interest in Hartlepool midfielder Tommy Miller, but the permanent sale of Junior Lewis to Leicester will finally be completed before the weekend.
