ARGYLE SKIPPER FACING LENGTHY ABSENCE

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE will be without captain Craig Taylor for the rest of this season and possibly the start of the next, after he broke his ankle during Tuesday's 3-3 draw with Southend United.

Taylor was stretchered off after 19 minutes of the match after a challenge from Southend forward Mark Rawle.

"Craig has a fracture so that's a massive blow for us," said Argyle's first-team coach, Kevin Summerfield.

"The result is secondary to losing your skipper and one of our most important players. We have got to sit down and work but what we are going to do for the next three games. It's not a nice situation and everybody is thinking about Craig."

Summerfield was angered that referee Mike Dean took no action over the challenge from the former Boston United striker, as he raged: "[The referee] never spoke to him, and Craig had already played the ball, which will be evident on the video.

"It was Craig's standing foot that he has taken and the referee has not done anything about it."
