KACHLOUL OPTS FOR IPSWICH MOVE
Aston Villa, Derby County and Scottish champions Celtic had all expressed an interest in signing the Morroccan international ace, but Kachloul has admitted the desire to play in Europe with the Suffolk side and stay in England had persuaded him to choose George Burley's men.
Burley is long-term admirer of the 29-year-old and had tried to sign him last summer but now he no looks to have finally grabbed his man.
"There has been lots of speculation about my future and I have been in discussions with a few clubs, but I have decided to sign for Ipswich Town," Kachloul told his official website Icons.com.
"The conversations that I had with David Sheepshanks and George Burley were what finally convinced me that this was the right move for me. Both men impressed me and their vision of the future for Ipswich is great. I wanted to sign for a club whose ambition matches mine and I believe that I am.
"George Burley particularly impressed me and I think this year he has shown what a great coach he is. Every player at Ipswich knows their job and I look forward to playing under him.
"Despite late interest from other clubs this move just felt right. Sometimes in football you just have to go with your gut instinct and I just feel this is the right move for me. I am in no doubt that I am making the right move.
The former St Etienne man admitted that although he had turned down a move to Ipswich before he felt the time was now right to move to Portman Road.
"Ipswich first expressed an interest in me last year but the time wasn't right, as I was happy at Southampton.
"However now it is different and I am delighted with this move. I liked the fact that Ipswich kept alive their interest in me and it is important for me to go to a club where I am really wanted. If a manager has confidence in you and really wants you in their side, then this gives you the confidence to go out and play.
"Ipswich are a club that are moving forward and I have been very impressed with the football they play. They have showed all season what an attractive side they are and I think this will suit my game.
"Another factor in my decision was the chance to play European football. At this stage of my career I needed to play in Europe. I am tremendously excited about this prospect and can't wait for the season to start," added Kachloul.
Should Kachloul complete his move to Portman Road as expected, he will become Ipswich's second major signing of the summer following the capture of Spanish Under-21 international Pablo Counago from Celta Vigo on a free transfer earlier this month.
