STAGS SIGN BLACKBURN KEEPER

More from Football

MANSFIELD TOWN boss Billy Dearden has agreed terms with Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Michael Bingham and he will join The Stags on a free transfer.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper impressed Dearden (pictured) whilst playing for Chesterfield reserves last season and will provide back-up for former Manchester United keeper Kevin Pilkington.

"He did well for Chesterfield when he played for them in a trial match and he has told me that when he left Field Mill on that day he said to his father that he would like to play in a ground like this," Dearden said.

"He is only 19 and has a lot of promoise for the future and I am sure he will learn the trade a bit more from working with Kevin."

Meanwhile, Martin Pemberton has agreed a new deal to stay at Field Mill.

Pemberton joined The Stags from Bradford Park Avenue last season, but endured an injury-ravaged campaign.

He was offered the new deal after proving his fitness to Dearden.
