RONALDINHO DESPERATE TO PLAY

THE Ronaldinho transfer saga could soon be over, with the player desperate to get the matter settled so he can play football again.

Paris Saint Germain are still locked in talks with Brazilian side Gremio, who are asking 190 million francs for Ronaldinho.

PSG, however, are refusing because his contract with Gremio expired in February, and they want him to play for them immediately, but he cannot until Fifa have dealt with the matter.

"I don't believe the situation any more," said the troubled star. "I am happy with the support I have received but it doesn't solve the matter.

"I have been waiting to play for five months now, it is the only thing I have asked for but now to avoid trouble with the players` union, Fifa want to speed up the process."

Philippe Piat, vice chairman of international players union Fifpro, says that the matter cannot go on for much longer.

"It's scandalous that Ronaldinho still can't play," said Piat. "We have already contacted PSG about the situation.

"If Fifa don't reach a decision, we will institute proceedings in French law for his freedom to work, it can't last anymore."

A meeting of the player status committee is planned for next week, as is a second meeting between the clubs that could result in him finally pulling on a PSG shirt in the third week of the season against Sochaux.
