EAGLES TO SEAL LOCKWOOD SWOOP?

More from Football

CRYSTAL PALACE are the latest side to be linked with a move for highly-rated Leyton Orient defender Matt Lockwood.

West Brom, Millwall and Chesterfield have all shown interest in the left back over the summer and now The Eagles appear to have entered the race with, certain reports suggesting that they are close to agreeing a £500,000 switch.

The 24-year-old full back spent a fortnight training with Millwall earlier in the summer, but the clubs could not agree a fee and the proposed switch broke down.

Palace boss Steve Bruce will hope to add Lockwood to new signing Jovan Kirovski who played at Rotherham on Saturday after completing his undisclosed switch from Sporting Lisbon.

Bruce is convinced his former Manchester United team-mate, who scored 20 goals in 21 reserve games for The Red Devils but failed to secure a work permit to stay at Old Trafford, will prove to be an extremely useful acquisition.

"Jovan is a player we have been watching for some time and I feel he has the qualities that will make him a excellent addition to the team," Bruce said.

"Kirovski offers us something a little different in the forward line, and has the experience of playing football at the highest level."

Kirovski was replaced by another summer signing and fellow U.S International Gregg Berhalter in the 89th minute of The Eagles' 3-2 victory over The Millers.
