TRAORE HEADS FOR LENS

LIVERPOOL defender Djimi Traore has joined French side Lens on loan until the end of the season.

The French starlet, 21, has struggled to break into a consistent Reds rearguard and coach Gerard Houllier believes Traore will benefit from playing regular first-team football in Le Championnat.

Blackburn Rovers had registered their interest in signing the player but Houllier maintains that the £550,000 signing will become a key figure at Anfield in the future.

Traore's move to Lens will see him link up once again with former Liverpool coach Patrice Bergues who is now the director of football at the Felix-Bollaert.
