JONES RULED OUT WITH ANKLE OP

CHELTENHAM defender Steve Jones is set for a spell on the sidelines after being forced to go under the surgeon`s knife to cure an ankle injury.

The Cheltenham defender suffered a knock against Luton earlier in the campaign, and all efforts to shake off the problem were unsuccessful and he has decided to have an operation.

The full extent of the injury will not be known until the surgeon files his report, but it could be that he will be out of action for upwards of six weeks.

Jones joined The Robins from Swansea at the start of the summer, but has yet to play a full 90 minutes either in pre-season or league and cup games.
