WOLVES MOVE FOR ARGENTINE

WOLFSBURG are closing in on Argentine striker Diego Klimowicz after reaching an agreement with his club Lanus.

The 27-year-old marksman must undergo a medical and if that goes according to plan Klimowicz will be unveiled at the VFL-Stadion within the next few days.

"That is the final hurdle," said general manager Peter Pander.

Coach Wolfgang Wolf (pictured) is expected to outlay circa six million Marks (£1.9 million) for the Argentine target-man.

Meanwhile, club captain Charles Akonnor will be sidelined until the winter break due to a meniscus operation.

With Bayern Munich, Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen all coming up before the festive period, the news of Akonnor's absence will come as an untimely blow to Wolf.
