CAREW IN TALKS WITH FULHAM
As planetfootball.com reported earlier, agent Per A.Flod tried to play down the likelihood of his client heading for Craven Cottage, but the Spanish club's president Jaime Orti confirmed that a move is very much in the pipeline.
"The player is going to London to sign for Fulham," confirmed Orti. "That is all I can say at the moment."
Valencia representative Manuel Llorente has travelled to the English capital with Carew in a bid to seal the deal, which will enable his cash-strapped club to make a major profit on their £5 million arrival from Rosenborg.
Indeed, although the 22-year-old may intially join on loan, with a view to a permanent switch, the eventual fee could be as much as £11.1 million, the striker's buy-out clause.
During his days with Rosenborg, the muscular target man attracted attention from a whole host of English clubs but eventually opted for a transfer to Mestalla.
After being left out of the side recently by Rafael Benitez, the Scandinavian is expected to accept the opportunity to parade his talents in The Premiership, and solve Tigana's striking problems.
