Latics swoop for Colusso

OLDHAM have snapped up Argentine midfielder Christian Colusso after the South American impressed in an extended trial at Boundary Park.

The Rosario Central star, 24, has been training with the first team squad all week and coach Mick Wadsworth was so impressed that he decided to sign Colusso on a free transfer.

Colusso made his debut for Rosario at 17 and has represented Argentina at Under 20 and Under 23 level.

The Latics have encountered no problems in obtaining a work permit for Colusso as he holds an Italian passport.

Wadsworth has a number of contacts in Argentina and was influential in luring Daniel Cordone and Christian Bassedas to Newcastle when he was Bobby Robson's assistant.
