PSG close to Ronaldinho deal

PARIS SAINT GERMAIN are looking to finally seal the deal for Brazilian Ronaldinho with his old club Gremio, while the capital club also have to deal with the injury blow to Mauricio Pochettino.

The matter of Ronaldinho has been dragging on for some time, and eventually went to a special Fifa committee after the two clubs failed to find an agreement on the transfer fee.

The Brazilian side were asking a staggering £18 million for the samba star to move to the Parc des Princes, but PSG only offered £2.3 million as they argued that his contract with the club had officially ended.

Fifa concluded that a £4 million fee should be paid, but again both clubs were at odds, and now it seems as though Luis Fernandez's side have got the best out of the deal as they are set to pay the £2.3 million as compensation to Gremio, with the Brazilians getting a major chunk of any sell-on fee.

The deal seems to be just what PSG wanted, especially as the 21-year-old is starting to show the sort of performances that the capital side expected of him.

He put in another man-of-the-match display in the 5-0 thrashing of Lorient, but the shine was somewhat taken off that sparkling performance by the injury to influential defender Pochettino.

The Argentinian international injured his knee in a clash with Lorient striker Jean-Claude Darcheville, and faces at least three games out as a result.

PSG coach Fernandez is hoping that there is no serious damage and that he will be back in action soon.
