Hurtado returns home

HIBERNIAN boss Bobby Williamson has started his restructuring of the club by sending striker Eduardo Hurtado back to his home country of Ecuador.

The 32-year-old was brought to Easter Road by former Hibs boss Alex McLeish before his move to Rangers, and Williamson seems to have no plans to offer him a new deal.

'The Tank' has now fallen down the pecking order of strikers and former Kilmarnock boss Williamson has decided to let him go before the end of the season.

"Eduardo has gone back to Ecuador because he would have found it very difficult to earn himself a new contract here," said Williamson.

"Garry O'Connor and Craig Brewster have been doing well in recent games and Paco is also knocking on the door, so it was unlikely he was going to get into the side between now and the end of the season.

"He was only contracted until the end of the season in any case, so it's for his benefit that we've let him go now.

"He now has an opportunity to get himself a new club. He agreed that it was best he left and we feel it's the best solution all round."
