Injury blow for Ade

CRYSTAL PALACE have suffered a major blow with the news that striker Ade Akinbiyi will miss the first six weeks of next season through injury.

The Nigerian marksman had a knee operation at the beginning of May after damaging his cartilage in the final game of the season against West Brom.

Akinbiyi will now jet out to the USA to see a specialist in the next few days to undergo a second knee operation.

After a terrible spell with Leicester City, where the 27-year-old was labelled 'Akin-bad-buy', The Eagles swooped for the muscular target-man in a £2.5 million deal.

The loss of Akinbiyi for the start of next term will place the goalscoring burden on Clinton Morrison and Dougie Freedman.
