Ortega handed `Maradona`s 10'

ARIEL ORTEGA is the man that will take on the famed Argentina number 10 shirt - after Fifa's ruling that the nation could not retire the jersey.

Argentina were keen to withdraw the shirt in honour of legendary star Maradona - but were told they could not use a number 24 instead and had to allocate it.

Inevitably the prestige of wearing the famed number 10 has meant that it has attracted a great deal of press attention.

It is the 'little donkey' Ortega, who plays his club football in Argentina with River Plate that has been handed the shirt - and the diminutive playmaker does bear a startling resemblance to Maradona.

Ortega started his career with River, before moving to Europe and Spain with Valencia.

Sampdoria decided to bring the player to Italy, but, after a spell at Parma, Ortega chose to return home.
