Pelizzoli unhappy at Roma

ROMA'S goalkeeper situation has finally blown up - with Italian Under-21 international Ivan Pelizzoli insisting he will ask to leave if he is not guaranteed first team football.

The goalkeeping saga at the club started during Roma's Scudetto winning season in 2000-2001, when first Francesco Antonioli was widely criticised despite the team's success.

That summer saw the arrival of Atalanta's brilliant youngster Pelizzoli, but Antonioli vowed to fight for his place - and Fabio Capello has stuck by the veteran goalkeeper - and be repaid with some fine displays.

Inevitably Pelizzoli is not happy at languishing on the Roma bench - after establishing himself as one of the brightest stars in Italy whilst at Atalanta.

"I've had as much as I can take of being a reserve. I want to be on the pitch," said Pelizzoli.

"If Roma can only offer me a place on the bench then I will ask to be transfer listed.

"I will ask my agent to look for another club and then consider my options."
