After arriving in Rome in 1999, the 25-year-old has picked up plenty of experience and should be a key figure in Betis' Liga campaign next term.
The Seville-based club are also close to announcing the loan return of striker Alfonso, who has been unable to prove his worth at Barcelona.
The 26-year-old, a former Olympic gold medal winner, was previously with Real Madrid but he is fondly remembered in Betis, where he spent five seasons before joining Barca in 2000.
