Reggina swoop for Paredes

REGGINA have moved swiftly to snap up FC Porto midfielder Carlos Paredes.

The Serie A club have been interested in the Paraguayan international midfielder for some time and have paid around £3 million to secure his signature.

Paredes has 44 caps, scoring 7 goals for his national side, and was spotted by director of sport Gabriele Martino - who has strong Portuguese links.

Martino is also close to sealing a deal for Russian international Russlan Nigmatullin who is keen to leave Verona.

The recently relegated team are keen to hang on to the custodian - and may offer a load deal as a compromise.

Meanwhile Filippo Maniero has not yet agreed an extended deal at Venezia - and Reggina may swoop in.

"I am still a Venezia player," said Maniero. "I know that Reggina have looked at me, but we have not reached any agreement."
