Rivaldo set for Milan

RIVALDO is 90 percent certain to join Milan according to the Italian club, with a deal expected to go through by the weekend.

The Brazilian ace was released from the final year of his deal with Barcelona, and has sparked an avalanche of interest throughout of Europe.

Milan quickly made clear their intent to sign the player, and appear to have staved off interest from the likes of Madrid clubs Atletico and Real.

"Yes I am 90 percent certain that Rivaldo will be ours," said Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Club supremo Adriano Galliani admitted that the remaining ten percent was down to another club's negotiations.

"The player is still in vague talks with another major European club, but he prefers the Milan option," said Galliani.

Milan appear to have stolen a march on their co-suitors by offering two distinctly different deals, with a big money short term contract, or a longer term option with less salary.

The latter appears to have appealed to the 30-year-old, although the final deal reportedly gives Rivaldo around £3 million a season plus control of his image rights for three years.
