Rivaldo explains Milan choice
The World Cup star, who showed his 'win-at-any-cost' attitude during the tournament, believes that many clubs did not treat the race to sign him seriously.
However, he is delighted to arrive at Milan - and a league that has often appealed to him.
"I have always thought about coming to play in Italy," said Rivaldo.
"Yes, the offer from Milan was not the only one, but it was the most prestigious and serious.
"They made me feel that I would play a major part in their plans.
"They treated me like a champion and therefore I said yes to their offer."
Rivaldo is already looking forward to the Milan derby, that will bring him into opposition with resurgent Brazilian team-mate Ronaldo.
"I cannot wait until the derby," Rivaldo enthused. "It will be a great festivity of enjoyment for the fans, and I hope we can entertain them."
The only negative note at Milan has been people asking how coach Carlo Ancelotti will incorporate the wealth of forwards at his disposal into his starting XI.
"Problems of abundance? I would always say it is a good thing," adds the 30-year-old.
"Andrei Shevchenko, Filippo Inzaghi, Rui Costa, Jon-Dahl Tomasson and Clarence Seedorf?
"They are champions, men of talent and it is better to have them than play against them.
"Ancelotti will decide his best starting XI."
