Brown targets Fulham's Lewis

PRESTON NORTH END boss Craig Brown has confirmed that they have made United States World Cup star Eddie Lewis a transfer target.

The former Scotland boss and assistant Kelham O'Hanlon confirmed their interest in the left-sided midfielder at a Lilywhites supporters forum on Monday.

The former San Jose Earthquakes player impressed Brown with his displays during America's surprisingly successful World Cup finals campaign this summer in the Far East as the US reached the quarter finals.

The 28-year-old has vowed to move on from Craven Cottage this summer after enduring a frustrating spell with Jean Tigana's side, making only one first team appearance last season with the West London club.

Brown told the Preston official website: "There is an interest in Eddie Lewis, yes.

"Eddie Lewis is a good left-sided player at Fulham.

"He played for the USA in the World Cup.

"He played in the quarter final of the World Cup and played very well so Eddie Lewis is a target."

Meanwhile, another Fulham player that could be moving on is striker Barry Hayles, who has been linked with a move to Premiership newcomers West Bromwich Albion.

The former Bristol Rovers hit-man may be surplus to requirements with The Cottagers this coming season as Tigana does have the likes of Frenchmen Louis Saha and Steve Marlet as well as Argentine new boy Facundo Sava to choose as options up front.
