Alf won't sue but Irwin slams Keane

ALTHOUGH Alf Inge Haaland has revealed he does not plan to sue Roy Keane for his horrific tackle during the Manchester derby in 2001, the Irishman's autobiography is still courting controversy even before its release.

Norwegian utility man Haaland has tried to play down the furore surrounding the Manchester United midfielder's declaration that he sent out to deliberately take revenge on the Scandinavian for an incident that left Keane with knee ligament damage when playing against Leeds United.

"It's been opened up and I would rather forget about it," said Haaland.

However, Keane's former international and club team-mate Denis Irwin has criticised the publication of the explosive book.

"Not for the first time, Roy has got the timing wrong," stated the new Wolves full back.

"I'm surprised he did a book in the first place.

"I'm sure one or two players will come back at him."
